Carpet Fitter

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Measure and assess the area where the carpet will be installed to determine the amount of material needed.
- Remove old flooring and prepare the surface by cleaning, levelling, and smoothing.
- Cut carpet to size and shape, ensuring precise fit and alignment with room dimensions and design specifications.
- Install underlay or padding to enhance comfort and extend the carpet’s lifespan.
- Secure the carpet using appropriate methods, such as tacking strips, adhesives, or stretching techniques.
- Seam and join carpet sections seamlessly using heat bonding or adhesive tapes.
- Trim excess carpet along walls and doorways for a clean, finished look.
- Install and secure carpet edges using edge strips or moulding.
- Inspect the finished installation for any defects or imperfections, making adjustments as needed.
- Move furniture and other objects to facilitate carpet installation and return them to their original positions after the job is completed.
- Provide maintenance advice to clients on how to care for their new carpet to ensure its longevity.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly stored.
- Follow safety guidelines and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as interior designers or contractors, to ensure the carpet installation aligns with overall project plans.
